"No refunds" should have been a dead giveaway something is wrong with this property. There are 3 positive reviews half way down the page giving you confidence to stay there. They offer coffee on the balcony for a few hours each morning. Plus you have to drop your key off at the front desk when you leave, really??????
Answer 1 of 10: Did any of you see the Hotel Impossible episode for the Empress Hotel? Even staff members were very obviously under the influence of Narcotics. Lots of walking noises from the room above me.
The beds and pillows were clean and the parking is FREE! The Empress is not the Hilton nor do we advertise that it is. I noticed the hotel had old appliances and a myriad of other debris along the wall (pictured below). Beyond that, you need to be okay with sleeping in beaten down, cramped quarters and being less than 5 feet tall to take a shower.This hotel charged my husband I for a supposedly bigger room.

It's nothing more than a bed to sleep on. I contacted Booking.com to negotiate a refund after seeing all the negative reviews.

They have cameras in the lot and make note of your vehicle on the forms. Booking.com's are highly deceiving and I should have taken pictures instead of video. On the surveillance tv I observed her immediately getting on her phone and her conversation could be heard clearly. it is just a 5 minute walk to bourbon street & our great staff will help you enjoy your new orleans / french quarter holiday. If you're ok staying in a dump, then this place is for you! The room is small. My husband and I visited New Orleans for the first time last weekend and we stayed at The Empress Hotel. No dresser.
Not only was the white lady that worked the was insanely rude but the power was out for two days. The hotel needs a little TLC and updating from the owner but, the staff is fabulous and friendly. Door closer missing. Our room was invested with termites and the bed was SO uncomfortable. They actually charge for ice as well. I've never been to a worse accommodation.
Thought it might get me a better room.

Basic amenities and excellent service are the specialties.

Staff was not as friendly as the reviews say they were. Which languages are spoken by the staff at Empress Hotel?The staff speaks multiple languages, including English and Spanish. Nor could she have been able to watch them while my husband and I went to eat on a date. They do nickel-and-dime you at the end. Our great service will help you enjoy your New Orleans experience.
